The Mighty Booth
About
An intimate theatre experience shaped by real stories from County Durham.
The Mighty Booth is a one-to-one theatre experience where you step inside a small space and are guided through a story shaped by real people’s lives, memories and fandoms. Developed with communities across County Durham, the project explores the things we love and how they shape who we are.

Community participation
This work has been developed through workshops, conversations and creative sessions with local communities. Participants have shaped the stories, themes and material that sit at the heart of the experience.
How it’s being made
The Mighty Booth is being created with communities across County Durham. In places like Trimdon and Blackhall, we’re running hands-on sessions where people can make, experiment and shape the Booth together. Some people are designing how it looks and works. Others are sharing stories, memories and objects that will live inside it. It’s still evolving, and every workshop, conversation, cup of tea and slice of cake shapes what the Booth is becoming.
This is an ongoing process and we’re sharing little glimpses of how it’s taking shape as we go.

Where it STARTED
This project has grown from earlier work with communities, including Fandom — a participatory project developed with men’s groups across County Durham exploring identity, belonging and the things people love.
That’s where the first sparks of this Mighty Booth began.
