ACCESS INFORMATION
A quick note
This project is currently in development.
As the trail and experience take shape, we’ll update this page.
If you have any questions or want to talk things through, just drop us a message. We’re always happy to help.
We’re building this with care, and with the people who take part.
If something would help make the experience more accessible for you, we’d be happy to help. We’re continuing to develop how this experience can be accessed in different ways, and we’re always happy to chat through individual access needs.

🧭 ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE
This is a walking experience through Newcastle city centre
It lasts around 40 minutes
You’ll move through the city as part of a small group
A performer-guide will be with you throughout
You can take part at your own pace.
You can also step away at any time if you need to.
♿ ROUTE & MOVEMENT
We are designing the route to be:
Step-free and wheelchair-friendly
Planned in advance with rest points along the way
Led at a gentle, relaxed pace
We will also have lightweight foldable stools available if anyone needs to sit during the experience.
As we confirm the exact route, we’ll share more detailed information here.
🎧 SOUND & HEADPHONES
You’ll be given a pair of wireless headphones (no need to bring anything)
You can adjust the volume to suit you
The performer-guide will explain clearly how it works at the start
There are moments where:
you’ll listen through headphones
you’ll take them off for live moments
You’ll always be guided so you know what to expect.
📝 TRANSCRIPTS & ACCESS TO CONTENT
Written transcripts of the audio will be available
We are also creating a digital version of the trail:
Accessible via smartphone or desktop
Available during and after the festival
Explore in your own time, wherever you are
🌍 MULTIPLE WAYS TO TAKE PART
There are different ways to experience You Are Here: NOVUM
Guided live experience (with performer and group)
Self-led digital version (explore at your own pace)
Festival welcome point where you can listen without walking the full route
We want people to engage in ways that feel comfortable and accessible to them.
🤝 WELCOMING & FLEXIBLE PARTICIPATION
The experience is designed to be:
Welcoming and low-pressure
Flexible to different confidence levels and communication styles
You can:
join in as much or as little as you like
listen quietly
take breaks when needed
step away at any point
🏠 TAKING PART BEFORE THE FESTIVAL
We are also running free workshops and story sessions in community spaces.
These are:
relaxed
informal
shaped around the people in the room
You’re welcome to take part in ways that suit you.
🌦 WEATHER & ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS
If severe weather affects the experience:
We can offer an adapted indoor version
This will include storytelling and audio elements from the trail
👟 PRACTICAL THINGS TO KNOW
Wear comfortable shoes
Dress for the weather
Bring water if you’d like
You’ll be on your feet for around 40 minutes, with opportunities to pause and sit down.
