The Playground

A show imagined by 4-6 year olds and performed by adults for adults

‘I really love being human. But some days I really wish I could be a fairy’
Greta, age 4

The Playground is a new show currently in development by The Six Twenty. The show will be imagined by 4-6 year olds with the final performance being performed by adults, for adults (although children will be able to enjoy the show too!).

We’re hoping to create a funny, surprising and thought-provoking show that captures what it is to be young and explores what makes young people tick. Their lives, their opinions, their hopes, fears and dreams. The Playground will be an eclectic mix of stories dreamt up by children and told by adults through playful devised theatre, fantasy play and verbatim interviews.

We’re currently looking for young people aged 4-6 years old to help us develop this idea and help us create the show. To find out more click here.

The show is being created with Charlie Raine and Melanie Rashbrooke who first worked together on our show FANS in 2016. Charlie is an actor and theatre maker specialising in children’s theatre with an MA in Theatre for Young Audiences from Rose Bruford. She’ll be working with our Artistic Director Melanie Rashbrooke to devise an create this imaginative and playful new show.

With The Playground we hope to create a fun, entertaining and inspiring show for grown-ups, which highlights some of ridiculousness of the adult world as seen by children.

Isn’t it time that you unleashed your inner child?
